BLACK & WHITE PHOTO
I chose this black and white photo for my "Friday Photo's" because I thought it was a very classy and cute picture. I love how the man and woman are only seen in the side view mirror of the car because it gives you more variety of what you can see. You can tell that that it is a romantic setting because they are parked right by the ocean; awaiting the sunset. This photo to me is different and unique.
SOMETHING BLUE
(April 13th)
In This World by Brianna Johnson
Meet my beautiful nona, Liberia Marcuzzi. I loved the look of this blue painted wood wall so I told her to go stand in front of it so I could take a picture. I think it turned out absolutely amazing. It makes me feel happy. Not only do I love photography but I love to paint, I paint abstracts similar to this wall. To me this photo shows that our world we live in is such a gorgeous place; simply walking by a colourful painted wall can brighten your day or put a smile on your face.
WORDS ON A BUILDING
(April 20th)
Treasure by Brianna Johnson
"Treasure," a lonely word posted on a lonely shop in Fort Langley. There are various ways to interpret this word but there are more way to interpret this photo. This building stood out to me not only because of the word but the texture in the wood wall, the shades of red, the shape of the lamp and bulb, and the Christmas lights that were still hanging to this day. I treasure every beauty within the image.
LIGHT IN THE DARK
(April 27th)
The City Awakes by Brianna Johnson
This is taken at Cypress Viewpoint. I have taken pictures at Cypress Viewpoint many times during the day but this was my first time taking a picture or even seeing the view at night. It was absolutely phenomenal. I was blown away by how beautiful the view is at night. I didn't have my Nikon with me when I was witnessing this image but I had to take a picture so I pulled out my phone and used the camera on it and it turned out better than I thought it would. Although I did edit it of course.
MINIMIZE THE HORIZON
(May 4th)
Sphere by Brianna Johnson
I chose this photo because it shows a perfect example of minimizing the horizon. This was taken at White Rock beach since the weeks have been brighter and warmer my family and I went there for a walk. I originally didn't want to make this a black and white photo because in colour it did express how vibrant blue the sky was but once I changed it to black and white there was no comparison; I fell in love with my photo even more. By minimizing the horizon I see more of the sky and since I edited the photo to black and white more contrast and patterns are noticed.
CREASES AND FOLDS
(May 11th)
Sleep In by Brianna Johnson
For this Friday's photo we had to "sink back into bed and notice the creases and familiar fold of pillows and sheets." I decided to take a picture of my little sisters duvet cover because it portrays more of a happy mood than my plain white blanket on my bed. I like how the colours, patterns, and texture are all shown. Since it is a brighter image it makes me feel like I just woke up in the morning in a good mood and feeling refreshed.
REPETITIVE PATTERN
(May 18th)
The Simple Things In Life by Brianna Johnson
Recently I was at the Strathcona Community Garden where my Nona has her own plot. I was taking many pictures of everyone's unique gardens. I was so inspired by all the creativity and passion some people put into their gardening, just like me and my photography. My nona had a cute little path going throughout her garden shown in this picture. It's perfect for this Friday's photo because the repetitive pattern is clearly shown.
SHINY SURFACE
(May 25th)
Falling Glasses by Brianna Johnson
My little sister put a pair of silver sun glasses on that were too big for her face. As I was trying to take a picture of myself in the reflection of the shiny shades they started slipping off of her face. I guess she tried keeping them up with her lips which created this silly photo. Even though it was an accident it didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would. Afterwards I took more photos of how I originally wanted it to look but I still chose this one for my Friday photo because I liked it better than the rest. You can still see part of my image in the glasses, as well as her hands lifting up to grab the falling glasses. Making mistakes aren't a bad thing.
SOME PLACE YOU'VE NEVER BEEN
(June 1st)
Peaceful Boat by Brianna Johnson
I chose this photo that was taken at a hidden lake at a campsite called Beaverdell because I found it absolutely gorgeous. The view was astonishing and gave such a peaceful vibe. The lake was crystal clear but cold as ever, the sun was bright and gave me perfect lighting to take this picture. This was a place I had never been before, but if you think of it we have never been anywhere once. I named my image "Peaceful Boat," because it was as if the boat was sitting there looking at the calming view just like me.
THREE SECTIONS
(June 8th)
I Spy A Unicorn by Brianna Johnson
For my Friday photo I decided to do something a little more playful; bring my inner child out! The task was to find three sections of something and I chose the drawers in my kitchen. Now it would have been plain boring if I took a picture of just my drawers so I decided to add something for my eyes and the viewers eyes to look at. I decided to write down the first thing that popped in my mind about these drawers and what I had came up with was "You will find the utensils in here." I thought even that was too boring so the second thing I thought of was "You will find a unicorn in here," (I know, totally random). I thought that would be a little bit more interesting though. As I was taping it to the drawers my dog happened to walk in to the kitchen to see what I was doing and the perfect idea popped into my head. He will be the unicorn! I added the paint effect to give it a real fun and childish vibe. All in all I think this image worked out perfectly for my "Three Sections" photo.
CREEP IN CLOSE
(June 15th)
My Camera Is Not A Fly by Brianna Johnson
Zoom is an excellent thing to have on your camera. If it wasn't for that I probably would not be able to creep in close on this little bugger without it hopping away. It was a hard debate between choosing this image for my friday photo or choosing a picture I took of my younger brother. I put paint all over his face to create texture and to make it something different than a normal photo and I zoomed in on just his big brown eyes. When I edited it I made half of his face really dark and the other half really light, it turned out neat but I still picked this frog photo. My brothers actually happened to find this in my mothers back yard. I just had to go grab my camera because it was so cute!
